This shapefile dataset contains polygon features for the Melbourne Water region from a merge of four data sources:
Vicmap hydro water area (data.vic.gov.au; Anzlic ID: ANZVI0803002491),
Vicmap hydro water point (10m buffered point feature) (data.vic.gov.au; Anzlic ID: ANZVI0803002493),
Overpass turbo (wetlands http://overpass-turbo.eu/);
BirdLife Australia-Melbourne Water priority shared sites.
Geometries were fixed in the merged shapefile and some fields were removed - remainder are listed below. Features classified as "FTYPE_CODE" = 'watercourse_area_river' were removed using the following code 'watercourse_area_river' AND $perimeter > 1000. Manual inspection of remaining named features resulted further deletions.
Every feature with a NAME = xxx was manually checked and assigned a normalised site name with that of overlapping and / or adjacent wetland features. At this step, some unnamed features might be added to the group of features having the same normalised site name (these will have no "NAME" but will have a "norm_sitnm". During this step, some features were deleted e.g. features that had been built over, BLA-MW features that included substantial adjacent areas of parkland or reserve.
Layer was dissolved based on norm_sitnm != UNNAMED
The coordinate reference system is Pseudo Mercator (EPSG:3857)
